Meet Our Founder, Sheila Thompson

From Vision to Legacy: The Story of Thompson Gray

On July 1, 2008, Sheila Thompson founded Thompson Programmatic Services Incorporated, the forerunner of what is known today as Thompson Gray. Sheila founded the company out of a sense of need. After completing 28 years as a dedicated civil servant, she recognized that the Army financial management community would need help navigating the significant changes brought on by the fielding of the General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS). Her vision, of a company that focused on helping change the way the Army did its financial business, proved to be prescient. The company grew from a single owner doing customer work to a recognized market leader in optimizing a financial ERP.

In 2013 Sheila made another bold and insightful move when she sold a majority interest in the company to Cindy and Ron Gray, a Huntsville couple who had already demonstrated success in the field of Government contracting. The company, renamed Thompson Gray, continued to grow and expand its portfolio of capabilities, and more importantly, continued to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to the customers and employees that make up the fabric of Thompson Gray.

Sadly on April 22, 2018, Sheila passed away unexpectedly. Though she is missed for her indomitable commitment to people—customers, employees, colleagues, and friends—her presence is still felt today.
